February Robot Papercraft – Valentines-Bot

I’ve created a Valentines Day themed papercraft robot for the month of February. If all goes according to plan, I’ll do one of these a month, each with a calendar on the back. Check back often to download the latest!

Galaga Girl Pinup Art

Galaga Girl - By Jason Snyder

My latest pinup. It’s been a while since I’ve put my nose to the grind and really worked on my art. I’m enthusiastic about this one though, and I believe it will help me to get back on task.

I love video arcades, and Galaga is one of my all time favorite games. It seemed like a natural subject for me to take on.

Drive-In Theater Intermission Mix Video

A few years ago, inspired by my favorite theme restaurant, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney Studios, Florida, I decided to make my own intermission mix video. It feature 1950s and 1960s sci-fi trailers, snack bar advertisements and technology newsreel footage. It was always my intention to make more of these and put together a party DVD, but I’ve just never had the time. One day, I may revisit the idea.

If you’re into classic sci-fi or drive-in culture, enjoy!

Christmas Catalog Mix – 1980s Toys

robot, toy

Here is another Christmas catalog mashup, aided by, Wishbookweb.com. This time, I’m exploring the wonders of my own childhood. The Sears Wishbook arrived in September every year, and I can distinctly recall spending hours flipping through the toy section, craving. These images are some of the things I wanted most in the mid 1980s. Speaking of… see that robot on the top of the page? That’s the Omnibot 2000. I don’t think you have any comprehension of how much I wanted him. Instead, what I got was an inflatable plastic robot that had a motorized remote control base. Lame.

See more photos after the break. And click the photos for the full catalog pages.

Farewell Commander Adams

One of my favorites, Leslie Nielsen, has passed on. While I have enjoyed his comedic side over the years, the real influence he had on me was his role in “Forbidden Planet”, which I consider to be one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. In many ways, Nielsen’s Commander J. J. Adams was the precursor to Captain Kirk. This is interesting in view of the fact that the Captain Kirk, William Shatner, followed in Nielsen’s footsteps, making the transition from dramatic to comedic rolls.

In any case, Leslie Nielsen will be missed.

Christmas Papercraft – Atomic Elf, Robot Calendar

It’s a toy robot! It’s a calendar! It’s a paper Santa Robot Toy Calendar! Why not? Click on the image above for a larger version to download.

This is a little bit of a throwback to 2008, when I launched mistletoegreetings.com to sell a line of greeting cards and papercraft. I’m closing that site, but I still get a lot of traffic to the papercraft pages so I’m migrating them over here. I have updated the calendar on the robot to 2010, so he is current again. I may start doing one paper robot calendar a month just for kicks, each themed to the season. Stay tuned. I should have the January model done by mid December. In the meantime, checkback often for more free Christmas papercraft.
